Aim at the corner with maximum running spin; 3rd-cushion arrival 30 (3rd diamond).

The cue ball is sent from the lower half of the long cushion to the corner of the opposite long cushion (Aim 0) with maximum spin; it turns out of the corner and comes down onto the start long cushion (3rd cushion). The start value equals the 3rd-cushion arrival value. It is very useful for knowing the arrival line in bricole shots and in umbrella-type positions; it can also be played taking a ball fraction on ball 2, but bringing the aim exactly to the corner is difficult.

When? When the cue ball is in the lower half of a long cushion and the 3rd-cushion arrival on the same long cushion calls for a short-angle path; also for finding the line down to the 3rd cushion in umbrella shots.

Watch outThe scale is given only for the Start range 20–35.

Watch outThe paths in the diagrams are schematic trajectories built with ideal reflection; the real path with maximum spin turns wider at the corner.
