Stop shot: take the opponent's ball away from the redThe yellow is right next to the red; there is an easy layout for the opponent. White hits the yellow full (1/1), slightly low and without spin, at speed 2. The yellow goes up the length of the table and stops in front of the top short cushion; white stays at the point of contact. So the yellow is alone at the top end, white and red in the middle of the table. The green area is the target for the yellow; the red area is the dangerous zone the yellow is taken away from. Mistake: hitting high and sending white after the yellow.

Hiding the red: put the cue ball in betweenWhite hits the red with a 1/4 ball fraction, through the center, very slowly (speed 1). The red is frozen against the left long cushion; white slides down along the tangent line and stops in front of the red, on the line between the yellow and the red. The opponent cannot play the red directly as ball 2, and hitting white first carries the risk of a kiss on the red. The dashed line shows the opponent's blocked path, the green circle the target point for white. Mistake: too much speed, running white off the line.
Come slowly from far away, freeze the yellow to the cushionThe yellow is near the right long cushion. White comes along a long path with a 1/2 ball fraction, through the center, slowly (speed 2), and pushes the yellow to the cushion; the yellow stays frozen to the long cushion. White slides along the tangent line to the lower area, near the red. The opponent has to play with a ball frozen to the cushion, to two balls far away. The green strip is the target zone for the yellow. Alternative: hitting the yellow fuller and sending it to the short cushion; mistake: enough speed to bring the yellow back off the cushion.
Draw: yellow down, white to the redWhite hits the yellow with a 7/8 ball fraction, a low hit and no spin, very slowly (speed 1). The yellow goes as far as the bottom short cushion and stops frozen against it; white draws back and returns next to the red above. Result: the yellow at the bottom end, white and red together in the upper area. The green area is the target for the yellow, the yellow circle the area white should come back to. Mistake: not enough draw, sending white down after the yellow.
