Sunrise–Sunset System (일출일몰 시스템)Spin calculation for the long–short–long 비껴치기

Start at the bottom-left corner (0), 1st cushion at the 2nd diamond from the top (0), arrival at the top-left corner (0). Spin 0: in the 12 o'clock direction.
In Korea it is the best-known system for the 장단장 (long–short–long) 비껴치기. 비껴치기 is the glancing shot played by hitting ball 2, near the cushion, thin and sending the cue ball to the same long cushion. The system does not calculate the aim point but the spin: the sum of the start, 1st-cushion and 3rd-cushion values gives the spin step to play. It takes its name from the way the spin point moves left and right from 12 o'clock, like the sun rising and setting.
When? When ball 2 is near the long cushion the cue ball goes to first (right long cushion), and the cue ball has to take ball 2 thin and go to that long cushion, the top short cushion and the left long cushion (3rd cushion).

Watch outThe spin values are steps around the clock, not a count of side-spin tips: +4 is exactly the 9 o'clock direction; +1 to +3 lie between 12 and 9 o'clock, above the equator.
Watch outIn the diagrams the line after the 1st cushion is the ideal reflection path to the chosen arrival; the real path changes with spin and speed.
