Ball 3 in the corner: a big targetThe cue ball is in the upper right area, the red to its left, the yellow in the bottom right corner. Hit the left half of the red with a 1/4 ball fraction, no side spin and medium speed; the cue ball reaches the yellow in the corner via the left long cushion, the bottom short cushion and the right long cushion. The green triangle shows the size of the target: the cue ball can reach the yellow off the bottom short cushion or off the right long cushion. With the thin hit the red slides to the top left corner. Result: the cue ball next to the yellow, the red in the diagonal corner. The next shot is again played to the ball in the corner.

To the yellow in the corner, red to the opposite cornerThe cue ball is near the left long cushion, the red near the right long cushion, the yellow in the bottom right corner. Hit the right half of the red with a 1/2 ball fraction, no side spin and medium speed; the cue ball enters the corner via the right long cushion, the left long cushion and the bottom short cushion. The red touches the right long cushion and crosses diagonally to the top left corner. Both balls are in corners: one next to the cue ball, the other in the opposite corner as a big target. Typical mistake: too much speed; the cue ball pushes the yellow out of the corner to the middle of the short cushion.
Escape: along the short cushionThe red is in the bottom right corner, the cue ball near the left long cushion, the yellow in the upper area. Hit the right half of the red with a 3/8 ball fraction and no side spin; the red touches the right long cushion, escapes to the left along the bottom short cushion and approaches the bottom left corner. The cue ball reaches the yellow via the bottom short cushion, the right long cushion and the top short cushion. The red's path crosses the cue ball's path in the corner, but the red passes much earlier. Typical mistake: hitting too slowly; the red lingers in the corner and a kiss happens.
Escape: along the long cushionThe red is again in the bottom right corner, the cue ball in the middle left area. Hit the left half of the red with a 1/4 ball fraction and three tips of right (running) spin; the red escapes upward along the right long cushion and stops about two and a half diamonds above the corner. The cue ball goes to the yellow via the right long cushion, the bottom short cushion, the left long cushion and the right long cushion again. Because the red goes up while the cue ball first goes down and to the left, the paths separate. Alternative: the short-cushion escape in k3; the cushions the cue ball will pass decide which one to choose.
Mistake: full hit and the kiss zoneSame layout as k3. The red is hit with a 5/8 ball fraction and hard. The red hits the right long cushion and the bottom short cushion and bounces out of the corner; the cue ball passes through exactly this corner (bottom short cushion, right long cushion). The red zone is where the two paths meet: if the timing shifts a little, there is a kiss. Even if the point is made, the red comes out of the corner into the table. Lesson: do not hit ball 2 in the corner full; choose the escape route with a thin hit.
